The Dream / Short Works / Rhapsody
Frederick Ashton’s masterful Shakespearian character study The Dream and his exhilarating ballet Rhapsody come together alongside a selection of short works, including Five Brahms Waltzes in the Manner of Isadora Duncan, Hamlet and Ophelia and The Walk to the Paradise Garden performed by The Royal Ballet with Sarasota Ballet.

Dance Revolutionaries - in select cinemas from 26 June
Dance Revolutionaries is a captivating 74-minute exploration of raw emotion through dance set in stunning locations, showcasing Portraits – five solo dances, and an innovative production of the rarely-seen ballet, Sea of Troubles. From Emmy-nominated director David Stewart, the film explores the emotive world of two dance visionaries: choreographers Kenneth MacMillan and Robert Cohan, who redefined our connection to the art form.
Cohan’s film work Portraits is an intimate series of solos created with award-winning dancers. MacMillan’s Sea of Troubles, inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, poignantly explores universal human emotions of grief, jealousy and the drive for revenge.

Film
Sea of Troubles is Kenneth MacMillan’s highly acclaimed ballet based on Shakespeare’s Hamlet. This classic tale of grief, despair, revenge, power and madness are seen from Hamlet’s perspective in this short, powerful ballet. Choreographed in 1988, its relevance remains undiminished and resonates deeply.
Filmed on location at the historic Hatfield House, Sea of Troubles will premiere in London in 2023 during Mental Health Awareness Week.

THE ROYAL BALLET: A DIAMOND CELEBRATION
The showcase will demonstrate the breadth and diversity of The Royal Ballet’s repertory in classical, contemporary and heritage works. It will also include world premieres by Pam Tanowitz, Joseph Toonga and Valentino Zucchetti plus the Company’s first performance of For Four by Artistic Associate Christopher Wheeldon and a performance of George Balanchine’s Diamonds.

Join Clara at a delightful Christmas Eve party that becomes a magical adventure once everyone else is tucked up in bed. Marvel at the brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s score, as Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker fight the Mouse King and visit the Sugar Plum Fairy in the glittering Kingdom of Sweets. Peter Wright’s much-loved production for The Royal Ballet, with gorgeous period designs by Julia Trevelyan Oman, keeps true to the spirit of this festive ballet classic, combining the thrill of the fairy tale with spectacular dancing.
